6 Fit Girl Morning Tips.

Being fit is not easy. We don’t roll out of bed, have a green smoothie and TADA we are fit!

It’s the small little habits, and they don’t just happen. We create them over time. We might choose to take the stairs when possible (I mean I won’t climb 20 floors) instead of the lift, or skip those fries and have a nice side salad instead. It’s nothing complicated. As I have said many times before, it’s the little things that count and add up!

“There’s no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs”

Oh how much easier it would be if I could just eat a bunch of Nutella pancakes every morning for breakfast, or sit on my couch and watch TV and binge eat because I am so tired instead of making time for the gym. Much easier! But I know I would feel horrendous.

A fit girl knows the importance of her morning routine, so here are some of my tips to making the most out of your morning and kick starting your day the right way!

Make a point to get out of bed at the same time every day.

You don’t have to be a morning person to wake up early you just need to learn this one trick: wake up at the same time every day. This will make getting out of bed easier, in the long run, no matter what time you go to bed. It neurologically programs your mind making it easier to get up even BEFORE the alarm goes off!

Out of experience this really works. I am not the biggest fan of waking up early as I like to stay up late. But ever since I started my 9-5 job I have to wake up at the same time every day and now I don’t even look at the time anymore and just wake up.

“Lose an hour in the morning, and you will spend all day looking for it”

Drink a hot glass of water with lemon.

I have previously spoken about the benefits of lemon water in the morning so I won’t go on about them again. But starting each day with a hot lemon water helps my stomach feel light all day and makes my skin look better and more radiant. It definitely doesn’t happen overnight but it works I promise.

Do a few Yoga poses in bed

You don’t have to have a yoga matt or space, you can do some in bed. Yoga is calming and will help you start your day with the right frame of mind. It will also help wake up every single muscle and only takes a few minutes. Try this one out.

Don’t use technology for at least an hour

I am guilty of this. First thing I do when I wake up is reach for my phone to check what I have missed during my 7hours of sleep. I check the time, scroll down Facebook and Instagram. Read the news. Check my e-mails. 30 minutes later I am ready to get out of bed. What I would love to do is invest half of that time to reading a few pages of a book and the other half to make myself look more presentable to work! The blue lights emitted by technology are disturbing to the brain and hence should be avoided for at least the first hour after wake.

Shower

I know someone who is reading this and thinking “what a hypocrite she hates showering in the morning and refuses to accept the idea”.

I don’t hate it or refuse it. I just don’t have time for it and in my super organized mind it’s more practical to shower and blow dry my hair before I go to sleep so I don’t have to rush in the morning.

But I will not deny that a morning shower feels amazing and will make you feel lighter and more energized.

Have breakfast!

I won’t go into the science of it but please have breakfast. Whether you have it at home or at the office, just have breakfast. Your brain performance will suffer from it and so will your work and energy levels. You have been fasting through the night, a good healthy and filling breakfast will not make you fat – quite the contrary!
